IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19, ALL SERVICES WILL BE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
REVERSE HURT -- PURSUE RELATIONSHIP -- ACTIVATE PURPOSE
STAND Christian Fellowship had its first service on Easter 2013 in Pastor Tay & Shyra's garage. That Easter Sunday was definitely symbolic of the resurrection of their calls into ministry. STAND also held its first baptism on that Sunday... in a blow up pool in the front yard. It was awesome!
Church services were held in the Harris home from 2013 until 2016, when they transitioned to Rancho Cucamonga High School.
STAND CF has a vision to build a community of people who can be real about their struggles and know that they are not alone. A community that cares about each other and seeks ways to support rather than judge. A community where love truly is the driving force. A community that represents Jesus, His love, and His grace.
The pastors of STAND Christian Fellowship are regular people with regular struggles & flaws, and hope to use their testimonies to encourage and uplift those around them.
STAND Christian Fellowship is a non-denominational, Spirit-filled church whose mission is to promote the STAND R.E.P.
REVERSE HURT --- ENGAGE RELATIONSHIPS --- PURSUE PURPOSE
Pastor Tay, Shyra & Pastor Rob believe, wholeheartedly, that they have been called, by God, to seek out & deliver a message to those who have been "Church Hurt." God wants each person to know that it was man-made rules and religion that wounded them... not Him. He wants everyone to know that He loves you and desires a relationship with you, regardless of who you are or what you've done (or will do). He has the power to love us into right standing with Him, through GRACE.
Grace is "the free and unmerited favor of God." All we have to do it believe that Jesus Christ is the one true God, and by His death and resurrection, we have been washed clean and redeemed. James 2
STAND Christian Fellowship's Statement of Faith is built on 5 tenets: Salvation, Testimony, Armor, Non-revocable Grace, and Destiny. We believe that the Word of God (Holy Bible) is 100% true, and are committed to every word within it. We believe in the Trinity; Father God, Jesus Christ the son, and the Holy Spirit, and believe it is by this Trinity that we are saved from sin, covered by grace, and enabled to operate in the gifts of the Spirit. We believe that each of us have lived lives requiring forgiveness, and that our "stories" about the good, bad, and ugly, are used to keep us humble, while allowing us to be relateable. We do not have to live in shame or regret...we can hold our heads high because of what Jesus has done for us, and we must share it!
We believe in heaven and hell, and know that our adversary, Satan is real. Therefore, we know we must renew our minds and put on the full armor of God daily, trusting that, despite our failures...and there will be many... God's grace will always be fresh and new each morning, covering us through everything. We know that He will never leave or forsake us... NEVER!
We believe that each one of us is uniquely and wonderfully made for a very specific purpose. We believe that God does not call the equipped...He equips those who will answer the call!
Salvation:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Testimony:
They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Revelations 12:11
Armor:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10-12
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Non-Revocable Grace:
Whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. James 2:10-11
For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Destiny:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument],
And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:11-12
Mr. Tavon Harris was born and raised in the inner city of Baltimore, Maryland, where he
was raised by a resilient teenage mother, from the age of 6 years old, when his father
lost his battle with drug addiction. Although he spent much of his young life
marginalized by poverty, substance abuse, crime, and systemic barriers, he found
solace in music, and began to sing and perform; hoping to find a career and “a way out.”
Unfortunately, this came at the expense of his education, and led to a battle with self-
esteem and drug abuse. By the age of 19 years old, Pastor Tay had dropped out of
high school, quit music, and found himself facing a felony charge. He found himself lost
in a sea of confusion, with no identifiable supports, and a hopeless future. But his drive
to “find a way out,” became the source of his resilience, and led to hope.
Through the grace of God, the support of family and friends, and the willingness to
reach out for the emotional and physical help needed, Pastor Tay achieved “the
impossible”; earning his BA Degree in Mass Communications, and Master’s degree in
Social Work. Driven by his own story, he has a passion for working with men, and
providing counseling & guidance to those whose potential is buried beneath their
stories. While earning his master’s degree, and since graduating, he has worked with
severe & persistent mental health issues, high risk probation and child welfare cases,
homelessness, and in medical social work. Currently, he is an MSW Clinician with the
California State University, and the Senior Pastor of STAND Christian Fellowship.
Pastor Shyra Harris was born in California but spent a good portion of her childhood
splitting time between California, with her mother, and Michigan, with her father.
Although she and her two younger sisters were products of divorce and trauma, their
mother raised them to love and depend on God for everything. Pastor Shyra knew she
was called to minister to others at a very young age, holding bible studies during recess
in elementary school. She loved to sing and found peace through praise & worship. No
matter what tragedies, difficulties, or loses she experienced, she always knew that God
was there. However, at the age of 17 yrs. old, her stepfather passed away suddenly
from a heart attack, leaving the family in a horrible place. This is when Pastor Shyra
experienced a crisis of faith that would eventually lead to marrying Pastor Tay &
stepping into her calling.
Pastor Shyra not only ministers in the church, but also works as a licensed clinical
social worker, both in the community, and as an educator within the California State
University. She has a passion for the marginalized, and the “church hurt”… especially
those who others have “thrown away.” Like Pastor Tay, Shyra believes that it is through
her own transparency, and refusal to “put on airs,” that people will feel safe coming to
church again. Through her humor, relatability, and genuineness, Pastor Shyra hopes to
exude the grace and unconditional love of God that we all so desperately need.
Robert Harris has completed his graduate degree in Social Work, and has recently answered the call of God on his life. He is the leader of the STAND Outreach --- DeMaskUs ! His vision is to reach both the "churched" and "unchurched" with the message of God's grace .... uncompromising, undeserved, & absolutely endless.
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate u-:s from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
